This precious story stars a baby fruit bat named Stellaluna. During a night flight, an owl swoops in to separate her from her mother. Her fall lands her in a bird’s nest where she finds 3 baby birds named, Pip, Flitter and Flap.
Though the mama bird is surprised to find a baby bat among her brood, she accepts Stellaluna but only if she will act like a bird.
With the encouragement and friendship of her 3 new bird friends, she works hard to fit in knowing she is so very different.
After flying around one evening and resting on a branch, another bat comes to ask Stellaluna about her funny bird ways. Through the conversation Stellaluna finds out that this is her mother.
Even though she is reunited with her mother, her friendship with Pip, Flitter and Flap remains.
